Heli Kaskinen (b. 1981) is a visual artist and independent art curator who working mainly with photography. With her works, Kaskinen combines photography with conceptual art in a novel way. The works are usually based on real life experiences and in contrast to the chaos of life in general, they are often shown in a controlled and playful manner. In 2017 Kaskinen received her MFA Degree from the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of The Arts Helsinki. At the moment Kaskinen studies contemporary photography in Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture in Helsinki, Finland. During the last couple of years her works have been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Europe, e.g. Finland, Germany and Austria. Her works have been shown also in other contexts of photography. Kaskinen’s video work Regards, Terhi (2013) gained 1st place in the Best Multimedia of the Year category in the Press Photos of the Year 2013 competition organised by Finnish Press Photographers Association.
